Artist in Residence 

Leigh Community Centre offers the use of its attic space to house an Artist in Residence. This position is appointed by Leigh-on-Sea Town Council who hope to work with the appointee to provide creative ideas and artistic services to the Leigh-on-Sea community. All types of art will be considered on a yearly lease for the space.

Are you an artist, crafts person, or designer?

Leigh-on-Sea Town Council is excited to invite applicants for our next Artist in Residence for 2017/18. Could it be you?

If you are an established practitioner and might enjoy developing a community project or similar then our Studio Loft at Leigh Community Centre could be perfect for you! The year's residency begins in September and runs for a whole year, offering the successful applicant reduced rental costs and a free exhibition space. Please read the Brief below for the requirements for applicants and download our application form to apply.

Please return all applications to the Community Centre by Friday 4th August 2017. Application packs can also be collected at the Community Centre reception. Interviews will then take place throughout August. All applications will be considered, including those from groups or collaborating artists.

Community Centre Art Wall

The Leigh Community Centre Art Wall hosts regular art exhibitions from local artists and art groups. The Art Wall is open to those who have sufficient pieces of work to fill the space. There is no charge but applications are subject to the Community Centre's Terms and Conditions. 

Interested? Request an application pack from the Community Centre reception or e-mail us directly.  Artists and groups with a connection to the Leigh-on-Sea area will be given priority. 

The Artist in Residence and Art Wall initiatives are part of Leigh Town Council's commitment to promote the provision of accessible social, recreational, educational and cultural facilities within the town for the benefit of the community and visitors.
